Types of dental drills
Dental drills are important tools used to remove cavities. However, many people do not like the sound of the drilling process.
There are different types of dental drills, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.
high-speed drill
High-speed drills are the most commonly used drills in dentistry.
They can drill teeth at high speeds, but they vibrate more and may require the dentist to exert greater force.
Air turbine: the most common high speed drill. Tend to vibrate more and may require more force from the dentist.
Electric: newer high speed drills. Provides less vibration, more consistent power and less vibration. Often used in high-end dental practices.
low-speed drill
Slow-speed drills are used for delicate procedures and grinding.
Because they rotate slowly, there is less vibration and less risk of damage to the teeth.
However, treatment times may be longer.
laser
Lasers are being touted as the dental treatment of the future.
They vibrate less than conventional drills and can remove cavities more accurately.
However, they are noisier and there is a risk of thermal damage when treating deep cavities.

- Combination of high-speed and low-speed drills
High-speed drills can reduce treatment time, but if vibration is a concern, they can be combined with low-speed drills to reduce vibration.
- Use of Bluetooth earphones
Bluetooth earphones can be used to reduce noise from drilling.
- Laser treatment
Laser treatment is less vibration-prone than drilling and can remove cavities more accurately.
However, due to the high noise level, you may want to consider using Bluetooth earphones.
Sound-sensitive people may find the noise of the drill very stressful during cavity treatment.
